The Commission starts consultations with Social Partners

In April the Commission had started the consultations with Social Partners (representatives of employees and employers) on consolidation of three EU directives: (i) on collective redundancies (Council Directive 98/59/EC), (ii) transfer of undertakings (Council Directive 2001/23/EC) and (iii) on general framework for information and consultation of workers (European Parliament and Council Directive 2002/14/EC).

The Commission’s aim is to strengthen the coherence and effectiveness of the existing EU legislation on worker information and consultation at national level.

It is expected that Social Partners will provide their responses by the end of June 2015.
