Changes in the allowances

On July 7th 2015, the President signed a law amending the Act on pecuniary benefits from social insurance in case of sickness and maternity and certain other acts.
The amendment envisages the introduction of significant changes in the calculation of the basic allowance for self-employed persons. The new rules are a response to the practice of declaring a high base of contributions for a short period in order to later obtain a high, long-term benefits.

Due to the fact that changes are less advantageous for the insured, the amendment caused a lot of controversy and protests. Currently,  the application period of new provisions is under consultation. Article about amendment can be found on the Labour Law Office.
